Dreams Sands Resort & Spa Review
A couple of weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the beautiful Dreams Sands Resort & Spa in Sunny Cancun, Mexico.
Upon arrival I knew I had stepped in to a place of luxury and had such a warm welcome from Martin from E-Concierge and manager Daniel.
I was taken to the 8th floor to the Dreams Sands Preferred Club Suite to check, greeted by the lovely Laura.
The Preferred Suite is a VIP suite which overlooks the beach and hotel, serving exquisite food and fine liquors, the view was quite superb!
I was then shown to my new home for a couple of weeks which was in room 840 to be precise!
The room was absolutely beautiful, it was the The Preferred Club Ocean View with a Balcony and the view was just superb. I was really taken away with the view especially after seeing my first sunset!
It was great to be greeted by some champagne and delicious sweet treats, and a welcome note 🙂
PREFERRED CLUB OCEAN VIEW WITH BALCONY
A picture describes 1000 words & as you can probably tell from the photograph above the Mexican sunsets were just beautiful. For somebody who loves photography this really is a great place for photography enthusiasts!
The Beach & Poolside Area
As you can see the private beach at Dreams was beautiful and serene & is literally on the doorstep of the hotel which is great! One of the great things about the ocean surrounding Dreams Sands is that it is very calm and easy to swim in because it is slightly coved, the sea in other areas along the coast are beautiful however they are quite choppy. The calm sea is one of the reasons I chose the Dream Sands Hotel.
The pool area is very pretty also, there are a couple of pool ares at Dreams. One has a swim up pool bar called Manatees & is much more lively, whereas the one photographed is much more chilled out.
Surrounding the area there are beautiful four poster lounge beds and also a couple of hot tubs too where you can enjoy your favourite cocktail from the Baracuda Beach Bar.
One of my favourite things to do was grab a cocktail and take a stroll along the beach where you can enjoy some more beautiful scenery in Cancun and view the hotel strip from a distance. You can also admire some of the beautiful holiday homes situated nearby!
Food & Drink
It was absolutely fantastic to be treated to some authentic Mexican delicacies created by an executive Chef at Dream Sands & his team. It was wonderful to try food eaten by the locals on a daily basis in down town Mexico.
Clockwise on the plate
1Â Quesadilla (the one in the middle) which was delicious! It’s a corn Tortilla filled with a savory mix, in our case it was Mexican spicy chicken.
2 Elote – A grilled Corn on the Cob, a popular Mexican street food
3 Salbute is a puffed deep fried tortilla topped with chopped cabbage, chicken, pickled red onion, pickled peppers and pickled Jalapeno pepper, which is only available in the Yucatan area of Mexico.Â
4 Tamal – made of masa, typically boiled in a leaf.
5 Sope – A dish which originates from the central and Southern parts of Mexico, made with Masa which is soaked in lime, topped with beans, and filled with black beans, crumbled cheese, onions, lettuce, and acidified cream. It was so tasty!
6 Taquitos – Known as a ‘small taco’ which were filled with chicken, and fantastic dipped in guacamole.
The wonderfully sized drink there was made especially for me as Martin knew I was a fan of Mango Mojitos (see my Twitter profile ;)). They were delicious and they contained a kick of chilli! The stirrer was made with real Mango which absorbed in the flavours of the cocktail which made an excellent dessert!
The food at the Dream Sands was fantastic & the hotel itself has a variety of different restaurants to eat in. One of my favourite places to eat was Himistu serving Pan-Asian Cuisine. The sushi served in there was so tasty and so healthy too!
One of my favourite main dishes was the Teppanyaki Grill which came with a mixture of seafood, beef and chicken, and sushi rice! The flavours in this dish were quite incredible and one of the best I’ve tasted.
The Sweet & Sour Pork was beautiful, succulent and mouthwatering!
The first couple of photographs are taken from El Patio which is an Mexican restaurant in the hotel. The first dish were prawns in a zesty sauce. The second (& one of my favourites) was a main course, chocolate chicken! It was so tasty and the chicken broke easily on the fork and melted on to your mouth! Incredible!
The third photograph is a creation of mine from The World Cafe which is an international buffet, I had a selection of seafood, mushrooms, rice, and stuffed vegetables!
The Dreams Sands really did serve the breakfast of champions, being an all inclusive hotel you got to choose from a variety of tasty things! My favourite things on the breakfast menu? Hotcakes, Nutella and Syrup, Waffles (though sorry I didn’t photograph those, I must have demolished those before I took the photos ;)) along with a pot of coffee.
A great energy kick to start the day and served until 11am. I enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony looking at the sea 🙂
ENTERTAINMENT
The Entertainment Team at Dreams were fantastic! One of my favourite experiences was a fire dancing show by the pool stage along with a delicious buffet! A great experience!
There was often live music in the hotel lobby as well as opera by the pool, great to hear beautiful music by talented artists, music is very much a big part of my life especially live music. Really very enjoyable.
There was always something on every evening at Dreams and I was so impressed at the amount of effort the team put in to entertain their guests.
My experience at The Dreams Sands Cancun was such a positive one & I would go back again anytime. Staff were ever so welcoming, the rooms were comfortable, views spectacular, food was delicious, and the overall experience at Dreams is certainly one to remember 🙂
Thank you Dreams Sands for such a wonderful trip!
Thank you all for reading my review 🙂 I would love to hear about holidays you are taking this year, or about your favourite trips you have had in the past 🙂
