Salon Privé Celebrates Porsche’s 70th at Blenheim Palace 2018

Salon Privé 70 Years of Porsche

Quintessentially English and set against the backdrop of ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace’ with Lobster and Pommery Champagne, it is a very special blend of Concours competition entwined with entertainment -Andrew Bagley, Concours Chairman

Set in the heart of the beautiful Oxfordshire Countryside Concours Masters celebrated 70th years of Porsche at Blenheim Palace, home of His Grace, The Duke of Malborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

Salon Privé’s VIP Celebration took place at the foot of the Palace, a luxurious automotive garden party with a breath-taking backdrop. This prestigious event is organised by brothers Andrew & David Bagley, a pleasure to be invited.

In the beginning I looked around and could not find quite the car I dreamed of. So I decided to built it myself -Ferry Porsche.

Over 40 Porsche’s were showcased outside of the palace, a superb display of classic cars dating from 1948-2018.

The 1955 Porsche 550 RS Spyder won the historical, the 1957 Porsche 356A Carrera Speedster won the Duke of Marlborough Award, best opening car, and engine. The 1957 Porsche 356A Carrera GS Speedster won The Ladies’ Choice Award. A spectacular display of creative craftsmanship.

Personally the vintage Porsche models appeal the most due to the unique craftsmanship and thought process which goes into the creation of each design, the cars are smaller & refined. Favourites included the 1957 356 Carerra Speedster, 1975 911 Carrera 2.7, the lightweight 1991 911 (694) RS 3.6, vintage little red Porsche’s. Classic cars are a favourite of mine, however the modern day models are superb also.

Fine Dining & Champagne Pommery

Salon Privé offers a superb fine dining experience set in the picturesque Palace Gardens. Upon arrival we were greeted by a free-flowing Champagne Pommery reception followed shortly by a Lobster Luncheon along with Lamb Koftas, char-grilled vegetables & greens.

Dining in the Champagne Pommery enclosure outside of Blenheim Palace was quite the experience, the ultimate location to sit back and relax whilst admiring the impressive Porsche Parade.

After the main car live show we enjoyed a traditional Champagne Afternoon Tea, my favourite indulgent treats from the menu were the moorish homemade brownies- Delicious!

Let’s face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me. Audrey Hepburn

Chocolate is by far one of my favourite treats, along with French free-flowing Champagne set in the grounds of Blenheim Palace? Such a memorable experience!
