Sofitel London Heathrow Hotel & La Belle Époque Review

Sofitel London Heathrow Hotel

The Sofitel Heathrow is an Oasis of calm and friendly service in a luxurious setting at one of the world’s leading airports. Although it is a fantastic environment we have the best team taking care of our guests. -Ryan, General Manager

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the luxurious Sofitel London Heathrow Hotel connected to Terminal 5.

Upon arrival hospitality was warm and inviting from smiley hoteliers, one of which gave us a personal tour of the hotel itself which was a wonderful experience.

The Sofitel London Heathrow grandeur in appearance with long corridors and walkways. The design is certainly based on space, comfort and sophistication. Quirky touches were displayed all around the hotel, pieces of artwork made you stop and admire.

Sip tea in the salon champagne at Le Bar Parisien, cocktails by the fire in Sphere. Let taste buds tingle with gourmet French cuisine in La Belle Epoque. Hold spectacular events in 45 meeting spaces from a Chefs Table to a conference for 1300.Life is Magnifique in London. – Mr Ryan Nicholls

The warm welcome continued as we were shown to our hotel suite greeted with freshly baked artistic patisseries on the coffee table which brought smiles to our faces 🙂

Our Luxury Suite with Club Millesime access was incredibly spacious at an impressive 32 m squared containing two main rooms, the main living room with sofa, television and kitchen and beautiful bedroom with king-sized bed – quite honestly by far the comfiest beds slept in!

The ultimate home from home feel which is something I personally look for when staying in any hotel as well as space, luxury, comfort and uniqueness. Certainly enjoyed watching the planes taking off.

Before heading to dinner pop down to the Club Millesime lounge for a glass of fine wine and some canapés! A great place to sit back and relax. All luxury suite have access to the lounge.

La Belle Époque Review & Exclusive Interview

A AA3 Rosette Restaurant serving Fine French cuisine with an Asian twist, each dish created is an artwork with an interesting bouquet of flavours. The ultimate fine dining experience. In this restaurant review an exclusive interview by the Head Chef is intertwined.

La Belle Époque serves modern French cuisine with an Oriental twist by giving unique twist to the traditional French dishes by our talented team of Chefs. We are privileged to maintain our 3AA rosette award as well as we have maintained to keep AA Notable wine list award for 3 years in a row. – Chef Mayur Nagarale

We had the pleasure of reviewing the Menu Degustation which is a 7 course tasting menu along with wine pairing.

Seasonal and beautiful produce has always been at the heart of our menus; the dishes are light and packed with flavours with fusion of south East Asian flavours, making the dishes lighter and purposeful of the season. My inspiration comes from  countries visited and inspiration from their local food. Our menu is based on these memories which we really enjoy sharing with our guests. -Chef Mayur Nagarale

This was one of my favourite dishes on the menu, fish was cooked to perfection and the red wine in the sauce complimented the nutty flavoured wine nicely.

Roasted fillet of grain fed Irish beef glazed with teriyaki, braised short rib, Shiitake, roasted jersey royal potato mousseline, merlot jus teamed with Malbec, Bodega Ruca Malen, Mendoza, Argentina 2014 (100ml)

A marriage of slowly cooked tender beef.  I have enhanced this with an Asian flavour of teriyaki glaze. To add theatre to the dish where the fillet will be presented on burning hay & carved at the table. Irish grain fed beef has a wonderful marbling throughout and this renders beautifully during the cooking process. The teriyaki  adds a really intense flavour to the dish releasing the umami on the taste receptors which creates an exciting sense. – Chef Mayur Nagarale

The pièce de résistance of the tasting menu, delicate Irish beef combined an elegance of fusion aromas made this dish a culinary masterpiece! The Argentinian Malbec was just superb with spice, cherry-plum notes, with a liquorice finish! Moorish.

Dark chocolate infused with spices along with port created a moorish sweet treat. Look at the happiness on Jonathan’s face anticipating the next treat on the menu!
Pineapple roasted with pink peppercorn, coconut and kaffir lime sorbet, coconut marshmallow teamed with Pacherenc Du Vic-Bilh, Saint-Albert, Plaimont, South West, France 2013 (100ml)

A delicate end to the meal the Pineapple & Coconut flavours worked in harmony along with the 2013 Saint-Albert with notes of tropical fruit, caramel, marmalade with a citric lift.

The main concept behind pairings is that certain elements (such as texture and flavour) in both food and wine interact with each other, and thus finding the right combination of these elements will make the entire dining experience more enjoyable – Chef Mayur Nagarale

The Fine Dining and Wine Pairing experience was a memorable occasion, the fragrant harmony of flavours meshed together created a very special culinary memory indeed. It was great taking a look at the Chefs at work in the private dining room 🙂

Breakfast in Our Suite

It was wonderful to enjoy breakfast in the comfort of our hotel suite and it was beautifully presented also. Moorish fluffy pancakes with maple syrup. The omelette was incredible packed with spinach, mushrooms, tomato and served with a fresh salad and balsamic.
